Parades, contests, gastronomy, dances, and entertainment made up an intense programme for an afternoon of carnival groups that gathered at Riomaior.
Traditional carnival groups from various parts of Spain and Portugal came together this weekend in Vilaboa, specifically in Riomaior, as part of the 6th Encontro de Entroidos, which Cobres will host again this year.

More than four hundred people travelled to Vilaboa to take part in an initiative that seeks to highlight the intangible and cultural heritage represented by each of the participating carnival groups, relaying centuries-old traditions through costumes, dance, music, and the concept of the carnival in each region.
The meeting was held on Saturday 13th July. The Antruejo de Igüeña, from León, travelled to Vilaboa for the first time: Las burras de Tremor de Arriba and El toro de Espina de Tremor. For them it was the first time performing in the event, which was followed by other carnival groups that are already regulars at this meeting, such as the Caretos de Lazarim, from Lamego in Portugal; and the Caretos de Arcas, from Macedo de Cavaleiros, in Bragança. They were also joined by the Guirrios and Madamitas from Cimanes del Tejar.
Cantabria was represented with the Andruido from Paré de Piasca and Zamora, with the Atenazador from San Vicente de la Cabeza. At the Galician level, from Salceda de Caselas came the Rancho Entroido da Feira and from Ponteareas came Perriñas and Mudados de Ribadetea. Also in Vilaboa were the Xenerais da Ulla, a carnival group from near the Ulla region, as well as the Madamas and Danzantes of the Salcedo Entroido, from A Pobra do Brollón, in Lugo.
The meeting started at noon on Saturday, with the Entroidos Aperitif, in Chiringo Deilán, enjoying the lively atmosphere by the sea. The meeting officially opened at 6.15 in the evening, followed by a spectacular parade and the performance of the various carnival groups at 6.30. At sunset, at 9.30 pm, a dinner with music was held, and the DJ’s Encontro started performing at 11.30 pm, guaranteeing that this special occasion would be fun for all.
