The Vilaboa Council and Cultural Association invite everyone to enjoy a program that will begin its most intense day on February 22 with a tour through the local parishes.
The Entroido de Cobres enters 2025 aiming to complete the process for its official recognition as a Festival of National Tourist Interest, which would make it the only carnival in the province of Pontevedra to hold such a title. This was explained by mayor César Poza during the presentation of the event poster, held in Riomaior with the attendance of the Councillor for Economic Promotion, Carmen Gallego, and board members of the Asociación Cultural Cobres. Madamas and Galáns also attended the event launching a month packed with activities meant to give “the cultural and heritage value that a festival with 17th-century roots truly deserves,” said César Poza. “We want to place the Entroido de Cobres where it belongs.”
The event poster, featuring the colors that define this festival’s brand identity, includes two QR codes to help follow activities in real time: one links to the official website entroidodecobres.com, and the other lets anyone know where the Madamas and Galáns will be dancing at any given time.

Martín Duarte, president of the Asociación Cultural Cobres, encouraged all nearby communities to join the tour that the Madamas and Galáns will make on February 22, bringing their traditional dances to Figueirido, Bértola, and Pontemirón in the morning, and to As Salinas and Carretera Vella in the afternoon. “Anyone wanting a little taste of us in advance can get it that day.” Seventy dancers, accompanied by 25 musicians, will offer locals the result of a year of intense rehearsals and costume preparation to keep this ancestral tradition alive.
The main novelty in this year’s program, according to Martín Duarte, is the addition of a third performance by the Madamas and Galáns at the Riomaior marquee on the afternoon of Tuesday, March 4, the festival’s main day. “We want to make sure no one misses the chance to see us perform,” he said. The big day will begin with a morning tour through the neighborhoods and a midday vermouth session at the marquee, followed by the “Corrida do Galo” and river games in the afternoon. The event will be hosted by popular TV personality Isi and once again feature @letidataberna as the carnival speaker — a Galician content creator with a large social media following.
“But those who truly want to experience the Entroido must join the neighborhood tour from March 1 to 4,” said Martín Duarte. Dancers aged 5 to 35 — including new participants this year — will spend the entire day walking from one part of Vilaboa to another. “You have to see it — the way people welcome us, how they open their doors to us,” Duarte added. César Poza also invited people to take part in this more intimate side of the festival. “Anyone from outside will feel part of this celebration through the memories the dances awaken among local residents,” he concluded.
