The Galician content creator guarantees fun during the Galo Chase afternoon, with traditional games hosted by TV presenter ISI.
The Entroido de Cobres approaches its main day with a schedule full of activities and traditions, some of them updated. The Cultural Association Cobres, in charge of organizing the festival, preserves the structure and spirit of the Entroido as it has been passed down orally from generation to generation.
Last year, the Entroido de Cobres revived the figure of the preacher, a character historically played by a man but absent in recent decades. That role was entrusted to Galician content creator Leti da Taberna.
Tradition holds that after the Galo Chase, the preacher would deliver the “Sermón do Galo” – a satirical and poetic critique of the community’s flaws. This role came with a risk: the crowd might react by shaking the stage or even tearing it down.
Leti da Taberna, returning for a second year, likely won’t face that danger. Her thousands of followers on social media were a key factor in her return, as was her ongoing defense of Galician intangible heritage, culture, and customs.
She will arrive in Riomaior ready to entertain, promising sharp-witted verses and playful satire, encouraged by the warm welcome she received in Vilaboa last year.
In addition to finding local news to inspire her rhymes, she is also preparing the traditional “galo’s will”: “I’m going to divide up its belongings – hopefully no one gets upset.”
This will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of tomorrow afternoon in Riomaior, which kicks off at 4:30 p.m. with games and the Galo Chase, hosted by TVG’s ISI. The Entroido de Cobres dancers will take the stage three times throughout the afternoon, with “Galo in the River” and “Galo on the Pole” games, ending with the Burning of the Galo. Fanfarria Furruxa will provide live music and DJ Gabry will close the evening.
Today, the Entroido continued its route through the parishes of Cobres.
