The seventh edition of the Entroido Gathering of Cobres, held on Saturday, July 12, once again turned the municipality of Vilaboa into the epicentre of traditional carnival culture from across the Iberian Peninsula, with a programme that combined popular heritage, live music, family-friendly activities, and an unforgettable festive atmosphere.
The day began at 1:00 p.m. at the Chiringuito de Deilán, with the Entroido Vermouth, where the public enjoyed a living showcase of traditional masks and rituals performed by the participating groups, featuring emblematic figures such as the Follateiros from Lobios, Currumiños from Mos, Merdeiros from Vigo, and the Guirrios and Madamitas from Cimanes de Tejar.

In the afternoon, the groups paraded from the Casa da Cultura de Riomaior, starting at 6:15 p.m., followed by performances through the streets. At 9:00 p.m., Fanfarria Furruxa animated the communal dinner, and at 11:00 p.m., the Night of Gatherings took over with a vibrant concert featuring Quinkillada, Boyanka Kostova, and the DJ’s Encontro (DJ Charlie + DJ Ekix), who brought the night to a powerful close.
Throughout the day, visitors could enjoy a craft and local products market, showcasing creative and locally sourced goods. A Traditional Entroidos Competition was also held, awarding the work, authenticity, and performance of the groups.
The event featured 10 traditional carnival groups from Galicia, León, Zamora, and Portugal, including:
- Madamas and Galáns of Cobres (Vilaboa)
- Veterans of the Entroido (Vilaboa)
- Currumiños (Mos)
- Xenerais da Ulla (Santiago)
- Follateiros (Lobios)
- Fulións and Boteiros (Viana do Bolo)

The event saw notable intergenerational participation, confirming its multigenerational character, with activities designed for all audiences — from children’s games and traditional markets to an evening of live music and celebration.
The voice of the event was provided by journalist and presenter Marci Varela, who enthusiastically guided the audience through each part of the day.
From the Asociación Cultural Cobres, organisers of the event, they highlighted:
“It was a historic celebration that showcased the diversity and richness of Iberian carnival traditions. Thanks to all the groups, the audience, the institutions, and everyone who made it possible. See you next year!”
