Entroido de Cobres brings its tradition to Santiago at Entroido de Sar 2026

March 4, 2026

Entroido de Cobres took part on Saturday, 28 February, in Entroido de Sar 2026, a festive event held in Santiago de Compostela that brought together different expressions of Galicia’s traditional carnival in a celebration marked by music, tradition and the promotion of intangible cultural heritage.

Invited by the Cultural Association Eu de Sar de Toda a Vida and the Xenerais da Ulla, the madamas and galáns of Entroido de Cobres joined the main parade from 5:30 pm, which travelled between the Cruceiro de Sar and the historic Colexiata de Sar, sharing the route with other emblematic figures of Galicia’s traditional carnival, including the Boteiros and Fulión of Viana do Bolo and the Xenerais da Ulla.

Throughout the parade, the music of Aires de Cobres and the traditional dances of the madamas and galáns once again captured the attention of the public, offering Santiago residents and visitors the opportunity to experience one of Galicia’s most distinctive cultural traditions: a carnival whose main characters parade with uncovered faces and a unique identity preserved across generations.

The day concluded with the traditional atranque of the Xenerais da Ulla in front of the Colexiata de Sar, bringing to a close an afternoon of cultural exchange and community spirit between celebrations that share the same goal: keeping Galicia’s popular traditions alive.

Entroido de Cobres would like to express its special gratitude to the Cultural Association Eu de Sar de Toda a Vida and the Xenerais da Ulla for this new invitation, highlighting the warm welcome received throughout the day. Taking part in this gathering is always a pleasure and an opportunity to continue sharing traditions, strengthening bonds and bringing the name of Entroido de Cobres beyond its home municipality.

Because gatherings such as Sar show that cultural heritage remains alive when it is shared, celebrated and collectively passed on.
