Entroido de Cobres to take part in the 11th International Iberian Masquerade Festival ViboMask 2026

March 13, 2026

Entroido de Cobres will take part in the 11th edition of the International Iberian Masquerade Festival ViboMask 2026, one of the most important gatherings on the Iberian Peninsula dedicated to promoting and celebrating traditional masks and carnival traditions, taking place on 21 and 22 March across the municipalities of Viana do Bolo and Vilariño de Conso (Ourense).

The madamas and galáns of Entroido de Cobres will join the festival programme alongside more than fifty traditional characters and groups from Galicia, the rest of Spain and Portugal, strengthening an international gathering focused on the preservation of intangible cultural heritage.

Entroido de Cobres will take part in the festival’s main parades, beginning on Saturday, 21 March at 5:00 pm in Viana do Bolo, one of the key moments of the programme, during which invited traditions will parade through the town’s streets, sharing music, dance and cultural identity with the public.

The Cobres delegation will also participate on Sunday, 22 March at 11:30 am in Vilariño de Conso, where the madamas and galáns will once again join the international Iberian masquerade parade, bringing the tradition of Entroido de Cobres to one of the most significant events in the calendar of traditional carnivals.

This year, Entroido de Cobres will share the spotlight with emblematic traditions such as the Xenerais da Ulla, the Cigarróns of Verín, the Peliqueiros of Laza, the Boteiros and Fulións of Viana do Bolo, the Jarramplas of Extremadura, the Zamarrones of Cantabria, the Joaldunak of the Basque Country, and the traditional Caretos of Portugal, among many other carnival and masquerade traditions.

The festival will also include cultural activities, conferences, traditional music, local craft and food markets, and parades in both Viana do Bolo and Vilariño de Conso, making it a unique showcase of the diversity and richness of Iberian popular traditions.

For Entroido de Cobres, this participation represents another opportunity to continue bringing its tradition beyond Galicia, sharing experiences with kindred celebrations and strengthening ties between communities committed to safeguarding cultural heritage.

Entroido de Cobres would like to express its sincere gratitude to the organisers of the International ViboMask Festival for the invitation and their work, as it is always an honour to represent the tradition of Cobres at an international gathering of this kind.
