Entroido de Cobres took part on Sunday, 12 April, in the Ultreia 2026 Tui–Pontevedra, organised by Diario de Pontevedra and the HQR Sports Association, welcoming and encouraging participants as they passed through the municipality of Vilaboa, during the final stretch of one of the most emblematic sections of the Portuguese Way to Santiago. The eighth edition of the walking event brought together a record 776 participants, consolidating its place as one of the province’s major sporting and community events.
Ultreia, which connects Tui and Pontevedra over a distance of up to 52 kilometres, follows different sections of the Portuguese Way and combines sport, heritage, landscape and a spirit of personal challenge. It also offers adapted routes finishing in O Porriño, Redondela, Arcade or Pontevedra, depending on the distance chosen by participants.
The madamas and galáns of Entroido de Cobres, accompanied by the traditional music of Aires de Cobres, gathered beside the historic Chapel of Santa Marta in Vilaboa to warmly welcome participants, encouraging them with music, dance and festive spirit during one of the final efforts before reaching the finish line.

The presence of Entroido de Cobres turned this moment into one of the most distinctive images of the day, surprising walkers and participants with the elegance of their traditional costumes and adding a touch of Galician cultural identity to an initiative committed to promoting local heritage, the landscape and the Camino de Santiago itself. A lively atmosphere marked this historic edition of Ultreia, which brought together around 800 participants for a day of sport and community spirit.
Entroido de Cobres would like to express its gratitude to the organisers of Ultreia 2026 Tui–Pontevedra, Diario de Pontevedra and the HQR Sports Association for the invitation to take part in an initiative that successfully combines sport, culture, territory and social connection.
Taking part in events such as this also represents an opportunity to continue bringing the tradition of Entroido de Cobres to new settings, sharing culture and helping make participants’ experience through Vilaboa even more memorable.
